Preparation = Success

The success of your program abroad depends primarily on YOU and your being properly prepared for this experience. An L&F program is not a tourist program - you will be challenged to try many new things during your time abroad and will certainly push yourself outside your comfort zone.

"My program allowed me to open up and step outside my comfort zone. I had an experience of a lifetime." Student, Amery WI

By learning about what you can expect and being prepared for as much as possible, you will enjoy these opportunities to grow and make the most of your time abroad.

Whether traveling with your group or spending time with your host family, your openness, your expression of appreciation, and your interest in what is going on around you will be essential in your success.

Resources to help you prepare:

Student Guidebook: Knowing what to expect, how to handle situations that might arise and the necessary items to bring are just some of the areas of preparation that are covered in the Student Guidebook, which you will receive from your teacher after group enrollment. It is essential that you and your parents read and re-read this information.

Preparation Meetings: Be sure to attend all preparation meetings planned by the teacher. These meetings will allow you to discuss important topics, such as the sites you will be visiting during your travel portion, how to fit into your host family, how traveling with a group can be different than with your family, and other preparation issues.
